We have two great worship services on Sunday morning for you to attend. Our 8am Contemporary service is filled with the modern worship choruses of today’s culture, and our 10:30am Blended service is mixed with time-honored traditional hymns and choruses of our day. John 4:23 states,  

“But an hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him.”

No matter what musical style is used, we worship corporately praising God for who He is and what He has done. We welcome you to come and celebrate with us the name above every name: Jesus Christ!

Philosophy of worship:

The term worship is often overused, oversimplified, and as a result misunderstood. To worship means to attribute worth to something or someone. At Woodlawn, we know that music is just one method of expressing worth to our Creator.  Authentic worship is an expression of our whole life. Romans 12:1 says,

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

God desires all creation to worship Him in all ways, and at all times. He is eternal, we are made in His image, and therefore He created us to eternally worship. Not just for the future in heaven, but from the beginning of time and each day in between. All of who we are is designed to give worth. We cannot stop this process. We are continually giving worth to something or someone. Every moment of our time and attention is given away. Now, although we were originally created to unceasingly worship the Creator, sin has corrupted its direction in our lives. In scripture, Jesus shows us where to properly direct our worship by telling us the greatest commandment.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” – Luke 10:27

We attribute worth to the Lord by the way we live our lives. If we are seeking His kingdom and heart each day then our corporate worship will be a natural outpouring of what the Holy Spirit is already doing to lead us in worshiping the Father through the Son, Jesus Christ.

“Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary.

Praise Him in His mighty heavens.

Praise Him for His powerful acts; praise Him for His abundant greatness.

Praise him with trumpet blasts; praise Him with harp and lyre.

Praise Him with tambourine and dance; praise Him with flute and strings.

Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
