Children

Welcome to Woodlawn Children's Ministry!

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14

Here at Woodlawn Baptist Church, we are passionate about our children knowing the love of Jesus, not just AT church, but also in their whole life. The goal in our children’s ministry is to help families create and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ. It is imperative that we share the Gospel with those who walk through our doors, and more importantly, those who do not. Our in-house ministries include weekly Sunday School, children's worship, Awana, Children’s Choir and special events throughout the year. Our children’s ministry also does outreach in neighboring communities through block parties and backyard bible club.

When We Meet

Sundays

Sunday School @ 9:15am
Sunday school for elementary school children is located upstairs, above the PIER. We encourage parents to walk them up to their class, especially on their first day, to see where their class is located and to meet their teacher.  During class there will be teaching and activities to help your child grow in their faith.  Classes are offered based on age and development as well as gender.

Kid’s Worship @ 10:30am
After Sunday school, elementary teachers will escort your child to the PIER while awaiting parents to pick them up and take them to the Worship Service in the Sanctuary. At the end of the music time, elementary students (ages K-3rd grade) will be dismissed to Kid’s Church, which is led by our Children’s Ministry Director, Lauren Shipp. Kid’s will have a message that matches their age range in a kid friendly environment.  You will pick your child up at the PIER at the end of service.

Kid’s Choir @ 5:30-7pm
Our children’s choir is led by the talented Sheena Stevens. During the Fall and Spring Semester, the students work with Mrs. Sheena on a music that encourages active participation, singing, coordination, patience, and most importantly, God’s Word. They perform towards the end of the Fall and Spring semester and take a break during the month of December and through the summer, so be on the lookout for specific dates.

Wednesdays

@ 6-7:45pm
We are proud to have our own chapter of Awana Clubs here at Woodlawn.  Our goal is to reach kids, equip leaders, and change the world one disciple at a time. Each week our Awana program has a different theme to keep children engaged and having fun! Our students  work hard learning biblical truths and memorizing weekly bible verses. Our program runs during the school year and takes a break for the summer.  During the summer we offer other ways for kids to engage on Wednesday Nights.

Annual Activities:

Easter Egg Hunt & Resurrection Story
Vacation Bible School
Family Worship during the summer
Back to school bash
Christmas programs
